Mediation

The mediation services provided by J3 Consultants are informed by my four decades
spent representing parties in complex and contentious litigation. Throughout countless
matters involving issues as diverse and unique as the individuals feuding over those
issues, I saw how quickly and easily resolvable disagreements and differences could
devolve into destructive, disruptive, and costly conflicts. By the time a dispute reaches
the courthouse steps, the parties' emotional and financial investment in the outcome
leads to entrenched and hardened positions that obscure the underlying issues and
make it that much more difficult to find an exit ramp away from protracted litigation.
 

Leveraging my extensive experience in the litigation trenches, hours upon hours of
specialized mediation and conflict resolution training, and the lessons learned in the
disputes I have successfully resolved as a mediator, I work closely with parties to
remove the obstacles that stand in the way of a mutually beneficial resolution. I do so by
fostering an atmosphere of trust and openness in which both sides have confidence that
their concerns and positions will be carefully and thoughtfully considered by a genuinely
neutral, fair, and objective mediator. When parties feel like they are being heard, I have
found they are much more open to listening.
 

My approach is both proven and intuitive. It involves not only putting in the work needed
to develop a comprehensive understanding of the facts and issues in a dispute but also
taking the time to appreciate the parties' motivations, pressure points, and objectives.
Synthesizing all these elements, I craft a tailored process built on established dispute
resolution strategies and enhanced by my 360-degree perspective of the dynamics of
getting even the most unyielding parties to "yes".
