Our Story

Jim Hughes is the founder of J3 Consultants. With over 35 years of litigation experience, he is a highly respected Mediator and Workplace Investigator. Jim is known for his ability to handle complex workplace investigations and mediations with professionalism and sensitivity.

I’m Jim Hughes, founder and principal of J3 Consultants. After 35 years of extensive and diverse litigation, mediation, and investigatory experience, I understand the lifecycle of complex and contentious disputes and serious claims of misconduct in the workplace.

 

When people have a story to tell, especially when they feel they have been wronged or treated unfairly, being heard is often as instrumental in reaching a resolution as being vindicated. When the emotions raised by a dispute or allegation obscure the underlying facts and issues, providing clarity, focus, and an independent perspective can clear the air and remove the obstacles standing in the way of a solution. And when parties feel their concerns and interests are being fairly and thoughtfully considered and respected,
they will be more open to compromises or remedial actions that bring contentious and sensitive matters to a mutually acceptable conclusion.

 

Appreciating these fundamental truths is the foundation of my approach to both mediation and workplace investigations, complemented by the specialized training, certificates, and qualifications needed to effectively help parties find a path forward from discord and distrust. With a keen eye for detail and a demonstrable dedication to fairness and justice, I strive to foster open communication and navigate complex interpersonal dynamics to facilitate productive dialogue in investigation interviews and mediation sessions.

 

At J3 and throughout my legal career, I have helped countless individuals and businesses move beyond their differences to find common ground. I have also worked with employers and employees to address sensitive and concerning allegations in ways that protect their interests, preserve their reputations, and provide appropriate disciplinary and restorative guidance and solutions.
